Learning a song is more than just knowing the melody, lyrics, or chords. I encourage my students to dive deeper into songs they really like to learn the most they can from the tune. This includes learning different versions of the same standards, playing solos using different scales, adding / subtracting notes or chords, and generally being able to create your own arrangement of a song.
This part of my site is dedicated to this type of practice. Each of the below posts dives into a specific song in various ways. If you would like me to breakdown a song you are learning, just Contact Me.
- Roll In My Sweet Baby’s Arms
- Salt Creek
- Billy in the Lowground
- June Apple
- Cherokee Shuffle
- Red Haired Boy
- Bury Me Beneath the Willow
- Big River
- Southern Flavor
- Whiskey Before Breakfast
- Blackberry Blossom
